Classic soul musicians to be honored in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ The Memphis soul sound of the 1960s and '70s will get its due when Booker T. and the MGs and the Memphis Horns are inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame.

The Nashville museum honors musicians who created much of the music sometimes associated with more widely known stars.

Booker T. and the MGs was the studio band for Stax-Volt Records. They played on hits for Otis Redding and Sam & Dave and cut their own instrumental hit, "Green Onions." The Memphis Horns appeared on nearly every Stax release, including records by Isaac Hayes and Rufus Thomas.

Other inductees include the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and Buddy Holly's band, The Crickets. Keith Richards, George Jones and Lee Ann Womack were among those expected at Tuesday night's ceremony.
