Nicole Kidman Talks about Keith's Alcohol Problem

Actress Nicole Kidman was married to country singer Keith Urban just three months before he was admitted into rehab for alcohol abuse – now she's talking about it.

"[Keith and I] were thrown into his alcohol problem three months into the marriage, and that was big,” she tells Parade magazine. “We became the closest we could become, because we had to bare our souls. We did 10 years of marriage in three months."

Kidman talks about the days when Keith was in rehab and how the two got through it. "You go to hell and back with this—when the addiction takes control of the life, it’s terrifying," Nicole continues. "But there is hope, and we work on it every day, and we are in a place of actual peace right now, which is a beautiful place."

Nicole expresses her feelings for Keith, "I love him so deeply, and he has done an amazing amount of work, and he is an amazing husband, and I am just very, very grateful. I think we are both in a place of humility."

  • urban didn't become an alkie all of a sudden. he was drunk as heck when they were dating. nicole says she happy, tom cruise exudes happiness, and urban has his alcholism under control, so all is well.

  • Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. My husband of 25 years drank himself into oblivion so many times, I finally left him. He lost me, our son, and most of all, he lost his own self-respect although he doesn't see it and never will. He still drinks. I will NEVER get involved with anyone who drinks excessively. And a word to the wise: You CAN'T change a substance abuser, no matter what. They must change themselves. No amount of love in the world will make them change unless they want to.
