Ex-Motown CEO Jheryl Busby dies at 59

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Jheryl Busby, the former president and chief executive of Motown Records, has died. He was 59.

Assistant Coroner Chief Ed Winter says Busby was found early Tuesday in a hot tub at his home in Malibu. Winter says the cause of death could be natural causes or a possible accident.

Busby was named Motown's president and chief executive officer in 1988 and stayed there for seven years. During that time he oversaw such up-and-coming artists such as Boyz II Men and Queen Latifah.

Busby also was a major shareholder in the nation's first black-owned national bank, Founders National Bank of Los Angeles, along with Magic Johnson and Janet Jackson.
