Patrick Dempsey on Co-Star's Departure from 'Grey’s Anatomy'

Patrick Dempsey appears on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Wednesday, and on it he dishes about Brooke Smith unexpectedly leaving “Grey’s Anatomy”!

When asked about Smith’s departure from the series by Ellen, Patrick pulls out a slip of paper he said was given to him by ABC that addresses the move -- and then he reads bits and pieces from it! He also shares his own thoughts about the cast shake-up.

“I think her story line has come to an end,” Patrick tells Ellen. “Thursday night is her last show, which is too bad, she has been a great character, and I don’t know what happened with that story line. They decided not to continue it for some reason.”
