FIRST PIC! Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz in Musical Nine!

The first cast photo of Nine has been released -- and Nicole Kidman poses alongside Penelope Cruz (they both romanced Tom Cruise), Kate Hudson, Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, Judi Dench, Sophia Loren and Fergie. (Cruise's current love, wife Katie Holmes, was said to have auditioned for the film.)

Daniel Day-Lewis headlines the musical as world famous film director Guido Contini, who struggles to prepare his latest picture, while balancing the numerous women in his life - his wife, his mistress, his movie star muse, his costume designer, a fashion journalist, a whore from his childhood and his mother.

It marks Kidman's first movie since welcoming daughter Sunday Rose in July.

"It's so lovely to have this rapport with other women," she told Australia's Herald Sun. "And it's nice to be singing and dancing again, but I'm really nervous to do it.

"Because I've just had a baby, I'm behind the eight ball a bit - your body can't do certain things," she added. "I'm like, 'Hang on, I can't hip-hop.' But (director) Rob Marshall has been wonderful and they've all been so accommodating - they've adapted certain things for me, and for having the baby around the set. I've had her there the whole time and she knows all the songs and has given them the thumbs up. Of course, with Keith, she's surrounded by music - she's very at peace with it."

The film -- currently shooting in England and Italy -- is set to be released next December.
