MUSIC NEWS - The promoters of the Lollapalooza music festival are in talks with Chicago city officials to continue holding the festival in Grant Park for at least ten more years, the Chicago Sun-Times has reported. Promoters c3 Presents, which is headquartered in Austin, Texas, is fresh off running the election night rally for President-elect Barack Obama in Grant Park this week. The Chicago Park District Superintendent Tim Mitchell told the Sun-Times the proposed contract includes three-day festivals to be held from 2009 to 2018. But, if the city is named to host the Olympics in 2016, Lollapalooza could be canceled and rescheduled for after the contract expiration date. Dates for the 2009 event, have been announced for August 7 thru 9.
