McCain made the Veteran’s Day TV appearance one week after losing the presidential election, saying he has been “sleeping like a baby.”
“Sleep two hours, wake up and cry,” the Senator playfully tells Leno. “Sleep two hours, wake up and cry."
McCain told Leno he spent the morning after the election getting coffee with his wife, but “not the newspaper.”
As for his former opponent, McCain said he admires and respects Obama, urging Americans to “join together and support the man who was just elected President.”
The war vet told Leno he regrets nothing about his presidential campaign. On why he lost the race, McCain said had three words to say: “I think personality.”
He also spoke candidly in defense of former VP running mate Sarah Palin, saying:
“I’m so proud of her. And I’m very grateful that she agreed to run with me. She inspired people. She still does.”
