Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey loves to race at high speed

Way back in 1991, I chanced upon to see a thriller called Run, which showed a teenage being chased by police and the mob, and which kept me on the edge of my seat. Patrick Dempsey convinced me a lot as the speedy teenager.

Times have changed since then, and Dempsey has evolved himself into a mature actor, and we love him as Dr. Derek Shepherd in the hit TV show Grey’s Anatomy.

But what has not changed is Dempsey’s love for speed, as the 41-year-old competed in the timed 2.5-hour Grand-Am Koni Challenge GS sports car race on Sunday, at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Dempsey, who is a driver and part-owner in the pro-Am sports car series, finished 6th of the 39 cars along with co-driver Charles Espenlaub of Tampa, giving him the best finish in five Koni Challenge races. Dempsey admitted his love for speed when he said:

I really enjoy racing much more than I enjoy doing the show. I mean I enjoy the show, but it’s a different thing because it’s like a long distance race.

I agree with you Dr Shepherd, speeding around at 170 mph is really a different experience.
