ATLANTA, Georgia-October 27, 2008- 2008 Winter Ball of the National Black Arts Festival (NBAF) is going to be HISTORIC!!!! DYNAMIC!!!! FABULOUS!!!! This illustrious, highly-anticipated event takes place Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 8:00 PM, at the prestigious Mercedes Benz of Buckhead Showroom, 2799 Piedmont Rd. Atlanta, GA 30305. The Collective Renaissance Guild of the NBAF will honor Big Boi of OUTKAST for his innovative work with the Atlanta Ballet in the groundbreaking production of Big. The Renaissance Award will be presented to Big Boi by special guest, Dr. Cornel West as a symbolic passing of the baton from one generation to the next.
The NBAF is celebrating 20 years as the premier national organization presenting the art, music and culture of people of African descent. As NBAF moves into the next 20 years it aligns itself with a new generation of leadership. “THE ART OF CHANGE”: 2008 WINTER BALL OF THE NATIONAL BLACK ARTS FESTIVAL will be hosted by an influential group of Generation X trendsetters called The Collective Renaissance Guild. The Guild consists of young professional women who are committed to infusing art, philanthropy and social change into the cultural landscape of the hip hop generation.
Kenny Burns and Rashan Ali will host the evening while DJ Trauma provides a soundtrack featuring hits and old school jams. Additional surprise performances and artistic presentations are designed to inspire creativity and engage the audience.
