Michelle Williams Opens Up On Losing Heath Ledger

It's been almost a year since that tragic day, and Michelle Williams, like the rest of us, is still reeling from the death of Heath Ledger.

"It's so sad," she tells Newsweek, breaking into tears.

"I guess it's always changing," she said of the way she's been handling the death of her former love and father of her daughter, Matilda.

"What else can I say?" the actress said after a pause. "I just wake up each day in a slightly different place -- grief is like a moving river, so that's what I mean by 'it's always changing."

"It's a strange thing to say," Michelle continued, "because I'm at heart an optimistic person, but I would say in some ways it just gets worse. It's just that the more time that passes, the more you miss someone. In some ways it gets worse. That's what I would say."

Michelle, who is currently starring in the Indie flick Wendy & Lucy, is rumored to be in a relationship with director Spike Jonze, but refused to talk about her romantic life. She did say that she is taking a year off to focus on Matilda, 3.

"I don't want to work while she's in school," she said of her girl. "I want her to have a routine. I want the plainest, simplest, most ordinary, habituated routine possible. I just want to know what's coming next."

Unfortunately, and Michelle probably know this better than anyone, sometimes you just can't predict what's going to happen.
