The 47-year-old actor filed for divorce from Shiva Rose, 39, last summer, citing the legal boilerplate of irreconcilable differences.
While the judge signed off on the split, McDermott doesn't become officially single until Jan. 2 after the legally required six-month waiting period.
The L.A. Superior Court papers don't reveal the custody status of the pair's two daughters, ages 12 and 3. In the original divorce filing, McDermott had sought joint custody.
McDermott, who most recently appeared on Big Shots, and Rose, an actress, were married in 1995 and separated in March 2007, according to the papers.
McDermott, who played an attorney on TV, acted as his own lawyer in the divorce, according to the papers.
