Five years ago NBC announced that Jay Leno will step down from the "Tonight Show" to make way for Conan O'Brien in May 2010. Now, The New York Times is reporting that NBC is planning a huge announcement about Leno's future.
In an unprecedented move, NBC is expected to announce on Tuesday that it has signed Leno to a new contract that will give him a show similar to his current "Tonight Show" gig -- in the 10 p.m. timeslot!
Leno continues to be the leader in late-night TV ratings, and NBC had reportedly been maneuvering to keep him with their network, fearing that he may start a new late-night show on a competing network.
Leno's new show is expected to be shoot in Burbank, where he currently shoots the "Tonight" show, while Conan is expected to move his "Tonight" show to a new studio on the NBC Universal lot in Universal City, Calif.
