Reports are surfacing that T.R. Knight of "Grey's Anatomy" may not be returning for another season.

Entertainment Weekly says that Knight, who plays Dr. George O'Malley on the show, has asked to be released from his contract, and both ABC and show-runner Shonda Rhimes may be granting that to him.

A person with direct knowledge of the situation also confirmed with the The Associated Press that Knight made this request. The source says he is asking to leave with three years left on his contract because he is unhappy with the storyline of the show.

When contacted by ETonline, ABC had no comment on the report and calls made to Knight's agent were not returned.

Yesterday, rumors were posted online that Knight had walked off the set and that he wasn't attending table reads since the second episode of the season.

Those rumors were deemed untrue. A spokesperson for "Grey's" says, "T.R. has never walked off set in the middle of filming. He attended the table read today and will be shooting this week, like any other week of production."

  • If T.R. wants to leave... let him go. I mean he's a great actor, but where has he been this season and the last half of last season.... He's given up on the show...the show that we all love, so LET HIM GO!
