"I think it's a smart move for Jay and a smart move for NBC," he says. "I think his style is perfect; he's very acceptable to the audience."
McMahon admits that he was surprised by the news of the new show, but that he understands the talk show host was not quite ready to leave television.
"…It was a great surprise to me, I had no idea," he says. "He didn't want to leave. It was one of those things like a Brett Favre you know. He decided he wanted to leave then he changed his mind, and I'm delighted he's staying because he does a great show."
The veteran entertainer tells "The Insider" that although he is no longer a regular on TV, he's ready and willing to appear on Jay's new show.
"Tell him I'm ready for a guest shot," he says. "If he wants me I'm available."
