It's No Illusion -- David Copperfield Breaks Man's Arm

Jeez -- don't be saying "break a leg" to David Copperfield before his next magic show, because he just might take it literally.

The magician encountered quite the snafu during a live show in Las Vegas Wednesday night when, during his "Intimate Evening of Grand Illusion" at the MGM Grand, a trick went wrong and David's assistant got his arm caught in a fan on stage.

"During an illusion where David attempts to walk through the rotating blades of a 12-foot high industrial fan, the fan and its platform were being rotated by one of David's illusion technicians," a rep told UsMagazine.com. "Just prior to David himself walking through the fan, [the assistant] was accidentally pulled into the vortex of the moving fan blades, causing injury to his arm and face."

Ugh!

An audience member said that they "heard a thump" come from the stage and then "one of the assistants dropped to the floor. The curtain came down partially. Blood was everywhere, and the other assistants dragged the victim back. Then the curtain closed all the way."

Shortly after, "Copperfield came out and said, 'We have an emergency and we might have to end the show...please give me two minutes.' He came back a minute later and said, 'I'm sorry, the show is over...if you want your money back, refunds will be given."

Yeah, I'd want a refund -- and a barf bag.

The assistant had to have surgery on his arm, which was broken in multiple places and stitches to his face. It seems that he will be fine, though.

Yeah -- I won't be catching this show anytime soon.
