"It was my mission to have a moment of privacy, to do something for myself," she tells the LA Times.
Reports of the wedding didn't come out until days later and no pictures of the ceremony have yet to hit the tabloids.
Johansson also says she's considering a new career path. The actress is set to star in the new film 'He's Just Not That Into You,' produced by Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen -- and says she too would like to produce some day.
"They make movies that they like, that they're proud of, that people love, that is entertaining," she tells the Times. "I would love to be able to do that someday, have a production company and encourage other directors and writers to follow their vision."
As for her acting career, Johansson is excited to advance into more mature roles. "I feel like the hype that comes with being young in the industry will kind of dissipate and that there are some really good roles in my future. Then again, I say that as an actor who thinks every job is their last job."
