See More... "Dancing with the Stars" performers Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff decided to make it an extra special New Year's Eve by getting engaged.

A source tells "The Insider" the engagement happened as the couple took a break from the "Dancing with the Stars" winter tour, which both are performing in.

The two had been dating for several months and are both due to participate in the eighth season of "Dancing with the Stars," set to debut March 9 on ABC.

  • I thought the Insider was trying to set up Maksim on blind dates? or was the most recent shows 'repeats' It's very misleading if he's been seeing Karina for several months. Is anyone confused?

You guys were trying to get him "dates" which apparently was just publicity..he was already seen dating Karina even during that "stunt" he was trying to pull with your show...This is not going to last...bet your bottom dollar...Hope the show don't pull one like this in the future...misleading the public....

  • If all of you peoplefollowed Maksand knew what he said about the (THREE DATES ON THE INSIDER) . He had said yes to their proposal of it BEFORE he was dating Karina. He said that it was just for fun and he was honoring his committment to the show. Even the girls all said it was just for fun. Also, how can people make judgements about others without knowing them personally? I wish Maksim and Karina all the love and happiness in the world. This is their decision not anyone elses.   • Faithful watcher of DWTS from the beginning. Would like to see much more on this couple. Mak's the bad boy could not resist a woman from his own country. BUT why did he wait until she came so close to getting married to MARIO. He had known her 15 years, gone with a lot of women, then he said proposal came into his mind when he had never thought of it before. Are they SOUL MATES?
    would like to here the answer to this one. Also, Katrina's Dance partner this year is going to be in their wedding, wonder what part he will play.

    These two were made for each other, from the same country, enjoy the same career, I wish we could see pictures of the wedding.
