Lt. Mark Kotte stated that police officers had pulled over Shepard early Saturday morning in Normal, Illinois for driving 30 mph over the speed limit and busted him for DUI after he was given a breath test.
The Pulitzer Prize winner told police “he had been at a tavern in nearby Bloomington and was heading to a hotel.” Apparently he was on his way home to Kentucky, driving from Minnesota. Too bad he didn’t realize it’s not safe to be driving under the influence!
