Fiancé of Sarah Palin's Daughter Quits Oil Field Job

Levi Johnston, the fiancé of Sarah's daughter Bristol, has quit his job in an Alaskan oil field amid questions about his eligibility.

Johnston, 18, left his position in an electrical apprenticeship program, his father confirmed to the Anchorage Daily News.

An Alaska radio talk-show host had pointed out that federal regulations require members of the program to have a high school diploma, which Johnston does not have. The talk show host also suggested that Sarah Palin might have helped Johnston get the job in her position as Alaska governor, but she denied the allegation.

Johnston's father Keith told reporters that it was his own work with the contractor that helped his son get the job, but he still advised Levi to resign and start working on his GED. Johnston and Bristol, 18, are engaged to be married and she gave birth to their son, Tripp, last month.

  • These kids need to finish school period. They are never going anywhere without an education, preferably a college education. Sarah Palin would do well to teach them that.

  • There's really no good reason not to get a high school diploma these days. Just stay in school! Time flies faster than you think.
