Heath Ledger won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his work in 'The Dark Knight.'

The film's director, Christopher Nolan, took the stage and accepted the statuette from presenter Demi Moore. A brief scene from the film, in which Ledger portrayed the Joker, played and then Nolan gave a touching tribute to the young actor.

Nolan spoke of the "incredible place in the history of cinema [Ledger had] built for himself," and said, "for any of us lucky enough to work with him … he will be eternally missed but he will never be forgotten."

Ledger passed away almost a year ago on January 22, 2007 of an accidental overdose at age 28.

  • actually (for all the ignorant people bashing a dead person) it was a "prescription drug overdose". You know when you are sick and the doctor tells you to take some pills for this, and some other medicine for something else but when you are really...

    • Some people just hear the word "drug" and automatically think he was hooked on meth or something...

It was (if I remember correctly) his doctors fault. But not to the extent that a court would hold him responsible.

  • His portrayal of the joker was terrible. Then again they ACTUALLY made a sequel to the horrible Batman Begins so I would expect nothing less from America.

    • Really? What makes his portrayal of the joker terrible? It's surely not his acting. Even so, why do you stereotype America as a whole? By doing such, in order not to be a hypocryte, you must then group yourself with whatever country you're from...

  • Who honors a guy who left a child without a father due to use of drugs? Let's all give tribute to a drug addict.

    • Right, because this is the very first time tribute has been payed to an addict??
Last I checked, half of the entire music industry is based off heroin.
I doubt Ledger was an addict at all, mostly because I don't know him and everyone has a...
