Cheryl Cole wants to launch a solo career.
The Girls Aloud – who recently worked without bandmates Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Nadine Coyle on UK TV talent show ‘The X Factor’ - star is keen to make a record on her own, but will only do it with the permission of the rest of the group.
When asked if the other members were worried she would quit the band to go solo, she said: “That’s a horrible thing to think.
“I mean, I’m not comparing us to Destiny’s Child, but they all went off and did their own things but then came back to the group.”
Destiny’s Child – Beyonce Knowles, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland - called time on the band in the summer of 2005 to concentrate on their solo careers and are yet to officially reunite.
Cheryl’s plans to go solo could extend further than making a record in her native UK.
In was recently reported that her fellow ‘The X Factor’ judge Simon Cowell has been trying to get her a US working visa so she can launch her music and TV career Stateside.
The 25-year-old pop star has struggled to obtain the essential paperwork to go to America since her conviction for assault in 2003 - when she punched a toilet attendant.
A source said: "What Cheryl did was a long time ago and entirely out of character. She has never put a foot wrong since.
"Simon is certain her impeccable behaviour since her conviction should be stressed when they make their next application."
