Michelle Obama has selected Los Angeles based decorator, Michael Smith, to help make The White House a home for the Obama family.

Smith has worked with many famous clients including; Steven Spielberg, Dustin Hoffman, Brian Grazer, Richard Gere, and Cindy Crawford.

Ironically, the designer revealed his desire to revamp The White House in a Domino Magazine article in April of 2008.

"I would love to redecorate the White House," he says in the article. "I am sick of the paint color!"

The selection of Smith as the Obama's decorator was announced on Tuesday.

"I am delighted to work with the Obamas as they bring their own energy and style to the residence at The White House," he said after receiving the news. "The family's casual style, their interest in bringing 20th Century American artists to the forefront and utilizing affordable brands and products will serve as our guiding principles as we make the residence feel like their home."

  • ididn't like either of Michelle Obama's inaugural fashions. Both are too busy for her stately figure and the colors needed to be more regal. She needs simple fabrics, defined lines and stronger strong colors

  • I'm already sick of hearing about this family & his term hasn't even started. It's going to be a loooong 4 years!

  • It's not necessarily her priority but it's customary that something is done to help make it more of their home rather then just a building - The White House! The fact that she's interested in using affordable brands and products says something good...

  • So her priority is decorating the White House? Hasn't that already been done? Who pays for that?
