John Mayer's New TV Deal

Singer-songwriter John Mayer is following in the footsteps of his girlfriend Jennifer Aniston and taking his talents to television -- ET has the details.

Mayer is reported to be working on a deal with CBS for his own musical variety sketch show.

Network execs say they're close to closing a deal with John and are currently only working on a pilot for the proposed series.

CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler says they picked Mayer for the variety show because of his humor and love of television. "It's [John's] idea," Tassler says of the variety show. "He loved it. He's a really funny guy. He's very smart."
