Stars Get Emotional At Inaugural Celebration

The Neighborhood Ball was the first of ten inaugural celebrations Barack and Michelle Obama attended on Tuesday night and "The Insider" was there with the celebrity guests who opened up about the amazing and unforgettable night.

 

We spoke with the stars that attended the various celebrations in Washington D.C. including Denzel Washington, Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, Queen Latifah, Rick Fox, Vanessa Williams, Diddy, Sharon Stone, and Kate Walsh.

Mary J. Blige tells "The Insider" that the night's events made her emotional and moved her to tears.

"It was so awesome to perform for the new president," she says. "Watching the dance was amazing, I cried. I mean I think everyone was crying. It's just a beautiful, beautiful inspiring time for us, and happy -- really really happy."

Kate Walsh tells "The Insider" about her experience at the event.

"The energy here is crazy and incredible," she says. "This is history, it's insane. It's been amazing, it's like being at a big birthday party."

  • How can a person not be American just because they didn't get emotional over the ball or even the inauguartion? I am sure there are people out there who did not get emotional over this and are full blooded Americans.... Think about it

  • I got emotional too. I wept openly at times. My heart was overwhelmed with joy and hope. Anyone who didn't get emotional is not a real American.
