There are predictions that this is Anne Hathaway's year for a nomination after her stellar performance playing a dysfunctional recovering addict in Jonathan Demme's "Rachel Is Getting Married". We expect for Jenny Lumet to receive a nomination in the Best Original Screenplay category for Rachel is Getting Married. Sean Penn, and Frank Langella are shooin nominees for their roles in Milk and Frost/Nixon. Both actors gave Oscar worthy pitch perfect performances of Harvey Milk and Richard Nixon. Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire" is the little indie that is ruling every major global awards ceremony. Slumdog swept the Golden Globes and the BAFTA's and is expected to upset the Oscar race in major categories. Heath Ledger is likey to receive a posthumous Oscar nomination in the Dark Knight. Rest in peace Heath. We have our fingers crossed for Mickey Rourke who is humbly embarking on a comeback with his perfomance in Darren Aronofsky's "The Wrestler". We hope all the nominees good luck including all the documentary nominees who are on the Oscar shortlist. The 81st Academy Awards nominations will be announced on Thursday, January 22, 2009, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Good Luck to all the academy award nominees!!!
