Production is back on track on 'Sympathy for Delicious,' with filming set to begin next week in L.A., according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film's future was in doubt when Ruffalo's brother died on December 8.
'Sympathy for Delicious' follows a paralyzed DJ who mysteriously develops the power to cure the sick, but not himself. He then decides to cash in on his gift to follow his rock 'n' roll fantasy.
Orlando Bloom and Laura Linney star in the film as the frontman of a tough rock band and the band's manager, respectively. The film's writer, Christopher Thornton, a theater actor who is paralyzed from the waist down, plays the DJ, with director Ruffalo playing a priest.
Scott Ruffalo was shot in the head in Beverly Hills on December 1 and died a week later due to his injuries. Two persons of interest were detained, with one of their attorneys claiming Ruffalo shot himself in the head playing Russian roulette. The L.A Coroner's office subsequently ruled the death to be a homicide. Police still have not released a motive in the case.
