OPERATION ALOHA from Maroon 5, Gomez & Phantom Planet Members

MUSIC NEWS  -  A new musical venture, OPERATION ALOHA has been formed from some of the members of Maroon 5, Gomez and Phantom Planet.  Together on Maui, after having a month of free time in between concert tours, recording and the general chaos of their schedules. They set up shop in a compound of tree houses with friends whom they respect and share common interests with. The musical result is a collection of songs that show the tranquility, freedom and spirit of Hawaii. Their self-released and self-titled debut album will be out on May 12, 2009.

OPERATION ALOHA is an experiment with a love of blues inspired rock and Hawaiian folk music, to create a collection of songs that pulls from the fantasy of escape. From the swagger of "Failure" to the emotional depth of "Phone Booth," to the slack key coloring of "Ika Pono" and the organic harmonies on "Elephant Pharmacy," OPERATION ALOHA is a album of naturalistic pop and a uniquely conceptual work from a group of talented musicians.
