"It's inconceivable to me that [this] would even happen in my lifetime at all. It's such a dream," Winslet says of being nominated in the same category as Streep -- both women are up to win the Oscar for Best Actress for their roles in 'The Reader' and 'Doubt.'
"Thank God for Meryl because there are women of my generation and the generation coming up behind my generation who look up to her," says Winslet.
The six-time Oscar nominee says about coping with award season, "I'm too emotional to lose and I'm too emotional to win."
Other actors to attend the luncheon included Penelope Cruz, Anne Hathaway and Robert Downey Jr., along with all five nominees in the directing category. "There's no way I could've looked at this script and thought 'It's Oscar time,'" Downey Jr. says of his Supporting Actor nomination for his role in 'Tropic Thunder.'
