Update in John Travolta Extortion Case

A judge in the Bahamas has denied a request to reduce a $50,000 bail for an ambulance driver accused of trying to extort $25 million from actor John Travolta following the death of his son Jett.

The man, Tarino Lightbourne, has been held since January 23 on charges of attempted extortion and conspiracy to extort money from Travolta. A former senator in the Bahamas, Pleasant Bridgewater, also has been charged with conspiracy in the alleged plot, but is currently free on $50,000 bail.

Lightbourne and Bridgewater allegedly demanded money in exchange for suppressing a document related to the treatment of the celebrity's son, who died of a seizure last month during a family vacation home in the Bahamas.

  • They should throw the book at both these men. People who prey on the misfortunates of others do not deserve and rights themselves.
