ABC: Nicollette Sheridan leaving 'Housewives'

The Associated Press
LOS ANGELES (AP) — ABC says Nicollette Sheridan is leaving "Desperate Housewives."

The 45-year-old Sheridan plays vamp Edie Britt on the comedy-drama about domestic life on Wisteria Lane. The network did not say Wednesday when Sheridan's role would end.

Her departure was first made public by TV Guide magazine.

A call to Sheridan's publicist was not immediately returned.

"Desperate Housewives," a top 20 show and one of ABC's most successful series, stars Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria Parker.

  • ABC is insane. The Edie character made the show (which is astonishing as she was never allowed to have much screen time) and Nicollette SHeridan played her brilliantly. This show will not last another season. Are they complete idiots at ABC or what?

    • Westeria Lane will never be the same without the hurricane Edie. They should have kept Nicollette Sheridan on the show for not only did she play the most amusing character but she is a wonderful star as well. Edie's death was an awfully sad episode,...

  • Edie Brit is the one we all love to hate. You can't get rid if that character. Everyone else is too goody-goody. We want more of the DYNASTY cat fights between Edie and Susan. Get rid of boring Katherine.
