“I just want to apologize to everybody — my teammates, my family, especially my fiancee,” he said. “It’s a tough time for me. I’ve been questioned as a basketball player, questioned as a person, but my fatherhood in question is tough, because I try to be the best father I can be, and try to keep my kids out of harm’s way.”
Phoenix Suns player Jason Richardson was arrested on Sunday night after going 90 mph in a 35 mph zone, while his three year old son sat in the back seat unrestrained. Jason was arrested on the scene for reckless driving, excessive speeding, and failure to use a child seat. A few hours later, he was released.
Richardson later put out a statement apologizing for his reckless behavior: “I just want to apologize to everybody — my teammates, my family, especially my fiancee,” he said. “It’s a tough time for me. I’ve been questioned as a basketball player, questioned as a person, but my fatherhood in question is tough, because I try to be the best father I can be, and try to keep my kids out of harm’s way.”
As a result of his reckless driving, Jason was suspended from playing in Tuesday’s game.
