"It's a very difficult time for her. Her brother's birthday was yesterday," Tyler Perry told Usmagazine.com on Wednesday.

Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew were killed in Chicago last fall, and the filmmaker believes that Hudson -- who has made her first public appearances since their deaths this month -- will continue to rise above the tragedy.
"What I know about her, is her faith will clearly help her to rebound," he tells Us. "As you can see on the Grammys, it was a faith moment for her that made her be emotional. But she's doing well."

Perry would love to work with Hudson -- along with Gladys Knight, Marvin Winans and Mary J. Blige -- on his next project. Although he has approached the Grammy winner, Perry is willing to wait for the star.
"I just want her to know that whether she does it or not, I'll always be there waiting for her, and in support of her," he told Us at the premiere of his film, Madea Goes to Jail, in NYC's Lincoln Center.
