A reporter says George Clooney is scheduled to have a discussion with President Barack Obama next week.

In a segment featured on Friday’s “Today” show, NBC’s Anne Curry caught up with Clooney in Chad, Africa, where the star was visiting a camp of refugees.

“We want [the president] to appoint a high-level, full-time diplomat [to negotiate for a peace treaty in the war-torn Darfur region],” Clooney told Curry.

Clooney is a U.N. Messenger of Peace.
