Katie Couric sat down with David Letterman on "The Late Show" Monday night, and she revealed that although baseball star Alex Rodriguez did not come clean to her about his steroid use he actually sought her advice on his baseball career.

Rodriguez appeared on "60 Minutes" in 2007 and during that interview he told the Emmy Award-winning broadcaster that he was not using steroids.

Couric explained to Letterman that she had no reason to doubt Rodriguez and thought he was telling the truth because she generally tries to believe the best in people.

The "CBS Evening News" anchor explained that Rodriguez later called to apologize for his dishonesty after reports surfaced that he had used performance enhancing drugs.

"He said, 'I'm really sorry - I'd love to sit down and talk to you about all this sometime.' He actually wrote me a note, and I believe it was hand delivered."

Couric also revealed that this wasn't the only phone call she received from the Yankees shortstop, he actually called her at one point for her advice.

"I was talking to him a lot during that whole opting out period," Couric says. "At one time he even asked me for career advice. He said, 'what team do you think I should play for?'"

After hearing this news Letterman joked: "That should have told you he was on the juice, that he's calling you."
