Producer: Lauren Conrad leaving MTV's 'The Hills'

NEW YORK (AP) — "The Hills" will no longer be alive with the drama of Lauren Conrad — at least, after the fifth season.

The producer of the MTV reality series confirms Conrad is leaving "The Hills," and that season five, premiering March 30, will be Conrad's final appearance.

Liz Gately says Conrad wants to move forward and lead a more private life. Gately plans to give the 23-year-old fashion designer a big send-off, and is evaluating how to continue with the show following Conrad's departure.

"The Hills," which debuted in 2006, has followed Conrad as she struggles with man problems, career drama and friendship fall outs.

MTV's cameras began rolling on Conrad when she was a high school student on "Laguna Beach" before graduating to "The Hills."

  • Bad Bad idea. I think that at the start 'Laguna beach' some of the drama was real but it was mainly some kids wanting 15mins of fame and now the show has become so fake. Heidi should not have a show and she will get no where. drama is better real...

  • i think that lauren was the best one on the show then audrina i think that spencer is a big head and thinks its all about him i will miss lc wont be the same without her, i watched her in laguana beach. wish her all the best and hope she gets more...

  • MTV you should be offering her the MOON to not leave the hills! MTV's ratings will be all but gone with the attempt to replace Lauren! She IS the ONLY reason I watched Laguna Beach and "The Hills"! Get Conrad Back!

  • The Hills will not last with Lauren. It won't be the same. She is the main reason I watch the Hills and it won't be the same without her and the gals together. Just like The City....That's a flop.
