Brian Williams gets pleas to hear some good news

NEW YORK (AP) — NBC's Brian Williams says he's shocked at the hunger for good news.

The "Nightly News" anchor keeps hearing from viewers about how depressing the news is, between the economy, two wars and an endless winter. So he ended his newscast Wednesday asking viewers to nominate people who do random or regular acts of kindness in a cruel economy.

In less than two days, he's gotten thousand of e-mails, and will start telling some of those stories Friday night.
