Have a Socialite's Night: Cedric Comes to the Chicago Theatre

Chicago:

It's definitely a big weekend for the biking crowd: first, registration opens for the annual Bike the Drive and then it's also the annual Winter Bike to Work Day. Hot beverages will be served for all participants in Daley Plaza, so don't be too discouraged by the chill. [Link]

Tickets are still available for Cedric the Entertainer's Saturday performance at the Chicago Theatre. His live comedy skits are really funny, so anyone who saw him in Charlotte's Web should feel free to forget certain aspects of that performance: he's really a hilarious guy. [Link]

Body World was a big success in New York City and now it's at The Museum of Science of Industry, so stop by and see some 200 human bodies in various states of decay, disease, and decomposition. It's sort of like Madame Toussaud's, only better -- beecause there's no J.Lo. And it's real. [Link]

The New York City and Los Angeles weekend events are after the jump.

New York:

Spend Friday evening with actor Forest Whitaker at Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theatre. He'll be speaking between two showings of some of his greatest performances: "Ghost Dog" and "The Last King of Scotland". I guess "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" didn't fit the bill, but obviously he's great in that, too. [Link]

Terence Koh, normally famous for his highly sexualized artistic creations, is set to unveil his first American show at The Whitney museum this weekend. It's supposedly less pornographic than some of his other shows, but don't let that keep you from attending - even his most toned down creations are exceptionally provoking and profound! [Link]

Los Angeles:

We're all cordially invited to attend David Lynch's lecture on his latest book, "Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity", Sunday night at the Kodak Theatre. I'm not sure what the books about, but a musician named Donovan will be on hand to celebrate. Seriosuly, though. We all know we'll only be there to see the director of "Blue Velvet". And sot some guy who happens to know how to carry a tune. [Link]

Rupert Everett will be signing copies of his two day old autobiography, "Red Carpets & Other Banana Skins" in Santa Monica on Friday night. I don't know that it reveals anything particularly outrageous, but seeing Rupert in person is always a plus. [Link]
