Actress Angelina Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, and actor Brad Pitt meet a Colombian Refugee Family

Angelina Jolie spent Christmas Day visiting refugees in Costa Rica. The 'Tomb Raider' actress jetted into the country on Monday to begin a visit as part of her work as a UN Goodwill Ambassador. As she met with a number of refugees, Angelina took the opportunity to speak out about the growing problems in the country. It is estimated that there are around 11,500 refugees in Costa Rica, most of who arrived after fleeing Colombia to escape the conflict between leftist guerrillas, soldiers and paramilitary forces.

Angelina, whose lover is Brad Pitt, said: "The conflict in Colombia is the greatest humanitarian tragedy in the Western Hemisphere, but it receives very little international attention. "My Christmas message to Colombian refugees and to the millions of displaced people in Colombia is that the world has not totally forgotten them."
