Mickey Rourke has signed on to the sequel of a box office hit!

The Golden Globe winner's reps tell "The Insider" that he will star in 'Iron Man 2' as Whiplash the Russian villain.

Rourke and 'Iron Man' star Robert Downey Jr.'s many run-ins during awards season aided in the process of reeling in "The Wrestler" star, according to Variety.

The 56-year-old actor has also contributed to his character's development after meeting with director Jon Favreau and screenwriter Justin Theroux.

'Iron Man 2' hits theaters next May, 2010.
