In addition to being the first artist to headline MTV’s first “Discover and Download” tour, Lily Allen has been named an MTV “Discover and Download” artist for the month of January and will be given MTV’s full multi-screen treatment with high profile placement on all of the network’s platforms including MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Mobile and MTV.com. Currently viewers can enjoy exclusive Lily Allen musical vignettes on MTV, mtvU and MTV.com where Lily goes off on topics important to the MTV audience including Fashion, the Internet and body image. Vignettes will also be available through all of MTV’s mobile video carrier distribution partners. Also, the Lily Allen campaign will live on music.mtv.com and will feature free exclusive downloads from each day of the tour. Lily’s MTV.com artist page will also give fans additional content including audio & video podcasts, photo flipbook of Lily on tour, free audio downloads, music videos, and more.
“Lily is not your typical ‘cookie cutter’ pop star. She’s not afraid to speak her mind through her lyrics on topics that are important to our audience,” said Amy Doyle, SVP, Music and Talent, MTV. “She’s sassy, witty, opinionated and most importantly she’s talented and has a bright future ahead of her. We believe she is going to do great things.”
“Extending “Discover and Download” into a tour is a natural extension for this brand,” said Joe Armenia, VP, Promotion, MTV. “This will give us even more opportunity to bring live music to our audience while also creating a deeper connection between the artists and their fans.
Lily Allen’s first single, “Smile,” has been named as one of the year’s best songs by Rolling Stone, Vibe and Spin. Allen has also been hailed as a favorite by some of music’s most respectable outlets including The New York Times, Vibe, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Spin and the Los Angeles Times. In addition, Blender has just rewarded Allen the honor of being ranked #1 on their list of “25 Reasons to Love ‘07.” On January 30th, Capitol Records will release Allen’s debut album Alright, Still.
