Unexpected Hearing Pops Up in Chris Brown Case

A new, unexpected hearing has been scheduled in the Chris Brown assault case ahead of his arraignment next month.

ET has learned the March 23 "status conference" will be held with lawyers and the judge. Brown his alleged victim, R&B star Rihanna, won't have to appear.

Brown is charged with two felony counts of assault and making criminal threats in connection with an incident last month in which he allegedly punched, bit and choked Rihanna. He is scheduled to be arraigned April 6.
