SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — A Los Angeles County judge has voided a contempt conviction and ordered a new trial for an animal rights activist who was the voice of Lucy in several "Peanuts" TV specials.Defense attorney George Seide (SYE-dee) says Pamelyn Ferdin faced up to five days in jail and a $1,000 fine until Wednesday, when Santa Monica Superior Court Judge John Segal reversed her 2008 conviction and set a new trial for April 28.
Last year, Ferdin demonstrated outside the home of a university primate researcher and handed out fliers with researchers' personal information. She was convicted of violating an injunction issued previously against other animal activists.
The 50-year-old Ferdin was the voice of Lucy in "Peanuts" TV specials in 1969 and 1971.
