Citing Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office, the Associated Press reports that Darryl McCauley, 43, was charged with eight counts of larceny over $250, forgery and larceny by continuous scheme.
According to prosecutors, McCauley was being paid $12,500 a month as Cook's employee at the time he allegedly stole from Cook, says the AP. McCauley is also accused of writing a $3 million check to himself by forging Cook's signature.
McCauley's attorney Robert Goldstein tells the AP that his client denies stealing the money.
