Family members including Goody's mother and husband, Jack Tweed -- whom she married last month in a lavish wedding ceremony -- were at her bedside when she died in Essex, east of London, British media reports quoted her publicist as saying.
Goody first rose to fame on the British version of the reality show "Big Brother" in 2002 and was thereafter closely followed by British newspapers and gossip magazines. Her story went international when she discovered she was suffering from cervical cancer and recently strories of her final days made daily headlines.
At first the former dental assistant was a hate figure for Britain's vociferous tabloids, which attacked her for displaying ignorance and stupidity on the show. But she eventually won many over with her loud, honest streak and later used her popularity to get a series of reality television and business deals.
Goody leaves behind two sons, Bobby, 5, and Freddie, 4, who she had with a former boyfriend.
