2nd Annual Las Vegas Film Festival To Screen Diverse Films April 9-12

The Las Vegas Film Festival is set to convene its sophomore showcase of more than 100 international and American films and documentaries this April 9-12. The four-day event, which began in 2008 as a vehicle for independent cinematic art, will be held at the Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel resort.

In its first year, the festival quickly established itself as an important portal for local, national and foreign filmmaking talent as well as a pivotal event for the growing Las Vegas arts community. This year's event will feature exclusive premiers, red-carpet festivities, panel discussions, a screenplay competition, a Nevada filmmakers showcase and an awards ceremony.

Noteworthy films to be highlighted include the documentary "Prom Night in Mississippi," featuring AcademyAward-winning actor Morgan Freeman and a feature film starring "Twilight's" Robert Pattinson led "How To Be". The documentaries "Summerhood" and "So Right So Smart", with narration by John Cusack and Daryl Hannah respectively, and the Academy Award-winning short film "Spielzuegland"(Toyland) will also be presented.

"The goal of the film festival is to show a diverse range of films which will offer something for everyone," Festival Director James Mulidore said in a recent press release. "This is a unique, interactive event where the filmmakers get to connect one-on-one with the audience and other aspiring filmmakers and industry professionals."
