Cycling champ Lance Armstrong is recuperating after surgery on his broken collarbone Wednesday.

Armstrong's collarbone was broken in four pieces and was stabilized with a steel plate and 12 screws, his surgeon tells the Associated Press, adding that the surgery took about three hours.

The seven-time Tour de France champ is expected to rest for a few days before hopping bike on the stationary bike to continue training. He injured himself in a crash during a race in northern Spain on Monday, but still hopes to compete in a race called the Giro d'Italia in May.
