Ah result night is always fun. Thanks to the President rambling on and on Tuesday night we had to wait for our Idol fix this week. Last night we finally got the result for the final 10. We had to suffer through watching Ruben Studdard sweat his way through his performance of “Together” before we found out the bottom dwellers. He’s got talent, but someone get the man a towel.
The bottom 3 was a bit surprising this week. Scott MacIntyre put on another Christian Rock Slow Jam-esque performance and landed himself in the bottom. Michael Sarver just can’t seem to get the hang of his song choices and also was banished to the losers circle. The surprise in the possibly axed competitors was Matt Giraud. After singing “Let’s Get It On” and wooing the crowd, he was also up for the chop.
Finally after Scott was sent back to safety and Stevie Wonder gave a shout out to Barack Obama it’s announced that Michael is out. It’s about time. Sorry Sarver, but you had to go. He was a nice guy, but dreadfully boring and cranked out the same thing every week.
It was a bit rough to watch him “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” as he worked for the judges’ veto power. Fortunately they are saving that for someone who deserves it. After more than 36 million votes were cast for the American Idol Top 10, the final competitors are revealed.
Idol returns to it’s home on Tuesday and will welcome David Cook and Lady Gaga. Yup. The Gaga will be singing “Poker Face.”
