The movie 17 Again, staring Efron, will be released April 10, and he says that non-musicals are the direction he wants to go for now. Efron confirmed that he will not appear in any more sequels to High School Musical, and he recently pulled out of a remake of the 1980s film Footloose.
Efron recently signed on to appear in the movie version of the Ben Sherwood novel The Death & Life of Charlie St. Cloud, a drama about a cemetery gardener who communicates with his deceased younger brother. “It’s a fantastic story,” Efron said. “It’s a little bit more grown-up. It deals with some heavy material.”
