David Cook Cancels Shows for Personal Reasons

"American Idol" winner David Cook has cancelled two upcoming shows at universities in New Hampshire and Connecticut.

"We are canceling Monday and Tuesday's shows to allow David time to deal with personal family matters," a post on his Web site read Tuesday afternoon.

The post went on: "Please respect his privacy at this time. David would like everyone to rest assured that we are working with the universities to reschedule the shows that are missed."

Cook's brother Adam has been fighting cancer, but there was no word as to whether the show cancellations were related to his brother's illness.
