'The View' Ladies React to Star Jones on Oprah

The ladies of "The View" responded to the comments made by their former co-host Star Jones on Oprah Winfrey regarding her gastric bypass surgery that she kept a secret.

"I'm going to take a bypass. … Good luck to her," Joy Behar said on the show when asked about Star. "We had to cover for her. We had to say [her weight loss] was from diet and exercise which it wasn't."

On Oprah, Star was asked to react to a previous clip of Barbara Walters on Oprah saying her secret surgery caused "The View" audience to feel "uncomfortable" and unable to "relate" to Star anymore. "I'm so sorry that I placed a burden on my colleagues. I never asked them to lie," Star said.

On today's "The View" Barbara said of her former co-host's disclosure on Oprah, "We really do wish her well."

  • I like Star Jones. It was her personal life and her decision not to let the "world" know about her surgery. I do not watch the VIEW, Barbara lost my respect with her TELL ALL book. She needs to retire. And Joy she is a MAD WHITE WOMAN. So negative.

  • When you are in the public eye and do something so drastic you should tell the truth. She never thought of those fans that may have needed her support or insight on the surgery. She preferred to talk about Al. Career ruined.
